Backed by over seven successful editions of the program of "Classical Music through the Wine Routes",carried out every year during Holy Week, this year Mendoza's wineries launched a new program: Tango through the Wine Routes.
The event was organized by the Secretariats of Culture and Tourism of Mendoza's government along with Bodegas de Argentina. The tango-wine program began in Killka space, Bodegas Salentein (Tunuyán, Uco Valley), with a show by "Noneto de Tango de la Municipalidad de la Ciudad de Mendoza" and in Bianchi champagne winery in San Rafael, with a show by "Tango Malbec" - "División Tango y Orquesta Contramarca". The program continued on Saturday September 19th in the Southern Region and the Uco Valley, while the following weekend it moved to the Central Valley and the Greater Mendoza area.
The closing show was carried out on Sunday September 28th at the Ángel Bustelo Auditorium. The cast of Almacén de Tango and the traditional orchestra Los Caballeros del Tango shared the stage with the most representative voices of Mendoza's tango scene. The night came to a close with an open milonga featuring tango groups Tango Inc., Las Pipistrelas and Fervor Urbano.
The cost of the concerts and the closing event was a powdered milk carton per person, which was to be donated to the province's food banks. Although the official figures have not been released yet, the organizers claim that this new event for promoting wine tourism was highly successful.
The advertising for this program was conducted within the province, in Buenos Aires and Chile. The date was strategically chosen, as it coincides with Chile's independence celebrations.
Some of the wineries participating in the event were: Killka Salentein, Champagnera Bianchi, Bodega Altus, Algodón - Viñas del Golf, Bodegas O. Fournier, Cooperativa La Consulta, Fantelli, Reyter, Familia Zuccardi, Vistandes, Belasco de Baquedano and La Elcira.
