Maria I. Echevarria brings over 25 years of expertise in Accounting, Compliance, Finance, Information Systems, and Operations, significantly transforming organizational efficiency and driving strategic growth. She spent a decade in the banking industry, focusing on Mortgage Quality Control, Compliance, Financial Analysis, and Mortgage Accounting. Early in her career, Maria navigated the stringent compliance requirements of both public and private sectors, gaining significant experience with agencies like FHA, VA, and other mortgage guarantors. Maria has spearheaded critical programs to ensure strict adherence to investor requirements for reporting, remittances, escrow accounting, and default management for major entities like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other private investors. She has expertly coordinated a wide range of audits—both regulatory and financial—providing strategic guidance to division heads on remediation measures and ensuring their successful implementation. Among her notable achievements are her leadership in SEC reporting, financial analysis, and the execution of major initiatives such as SOX, BSA, and AML reporting, along with the precise valuation of financial instruments. In addition to her banking experience, Maria served in senior management roles overseeing Finance, Information Systems, and Operations for two non-profit organizations for five years. Throughout her career, she has honed her skills in preparing financial reports, coordinating budgets and projections, delivering financial presentations, and analyzing financial data. Maria has also contributed to academia by developing and teaching accounting courses at Herzing University and serving as an adjunct faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University. She is a CPA licensed in New Jersey and Puerto Rico, holding a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Maria is fluent in both Spanish and English. She joined Gaucho Holdings in June 2014 as the Corporate Controller, where she was responsible for corporate consolidation, policies and procedures, and creating various SEC filing reports. Maria has fostered positive and interactive relationships with Gaucho Holdings’ global operations in Argentina.
