Old Vines

It takes at least 40 years for vines to begin making truly exceptional wines. These “old vines” are rare, and are typically known for a lower yield, but a greater quality and concentration of fruit. With proper management, old vines can produce richer wines with more sumptuous balance, often at a significantly higher price point.

Algodon Wine Estates' 325 acres of vines include over 60 acres that have been cultivated since the 1940’s, and approximately 20 acres since the 1960’s. The estate produces eight varieties of grapes, including Argentina’s signature varietal, Malbec, as well as Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Semillon.

Algodon's plan is to continue acquiring as many old vines as possible, and to continue producing ultra-fine and icon wines under the guidance of our esteemed winemaking team. This strategic advantage already differentiates us from the crowd, and our goal is to produce a range of quality wines made exclusively from old vines. As the quality and reputation of Algodon wines continues to grow, we expect this to have a direct positive impact on the value of the entire Algodon brand and the value of our real estate holdings. Our Algodon Wine is truly the Ambassador of our entire project, so we continuously strive to produce only the best.
