The Argentinean wine industry is set to break export records this year, according to recent figures.

The Corporacion Vitivinicola Argentina said yesterday (12 September) that, based on the results of the first seven months of the year, exports of bottled wine from the country were up by over 37% compared to the same time last year.

The wine industry in Argentina is on target to break the barrier of US$400m in exports for 2007 compared to US$215m the previous year, the trade body said, adding that it expects exports to hit US$2bn by 2020.

The growth is due to the rising popularity of Argentina's wines in the US, the UK and Canada.
